Saturday, October 27
9 a.m. – 10 a.m.
- $85 (Bin, workshop free)
Compost Bin Sale & Workshop

The workshop is designed to help people get started with a backyard composting bin system -- it’s Composting 101! They will learn how and where to set up the bin, what goes in, how to maintain it and the best part which is when and how to harvest the nutrient-rich compost to use in your garden.

The Earth Machine bins are great for backyard composting of both yard waste and food scraps. The U.S. EPA estimates that 27% of our solid waste stream is compostable – that is huge amount of garbage being trucked away that could instead be turned into beneficial compost right in your back yard! This a great time of year to start a bin because of all the carbon-rich leaves provide a nice base in which to add your food scraps. Anything that was once living can be composted, but most people stick to fruit and vegetable scraps, eggshells and coffee grounds for their backyard systems.
