| About Us The Native Plant Center at Westchester Community College is dedicated to educating people about the importance of wildflowers and native plants of the Northeast. We are located at Westchester Community College, 75 Grasslands Road, Valhalla, NY, 10595. We are proud to be the first national affiliate of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas, a national organization devoted to America's native plants. We extend the educational and environmental concepts of the Texas Center to this region. As a community resource, we share information on choosing, growing, and maintaining native plants. We sponsor events, such as lectures in the spring and fall and host Wildflower Symposia, workshops and spring and fall landscape conferences featuring nationally known speakers. We co-sponsor conferences off-site on general environmental issues. Read more about our past, present and future programming in the Years in Review. We work with Westchester County on plant lists and consult on native plantings on golf courses. We have also worked with the New York State Department of Transportation to create wildflower meadows along the roadsides. As part of our outreach, we have a Wildflower and Native Plant Sale in the spring. Contact Nancy Inzinna, Assistant Director at (914) 606-7870, (914) 606-6143 (fax), or at wcc.nativeplant@sunywcc.edu. If you would like an information packet, send us your name and address. | |
