As a small non-profit organization we are always tapping into the talents of our tireless volunteers. Without them, we wouldn’t have fabulous flower arrangements for our Art Show lunches, gardening and designing help, connections to plant suppliers, and all sorts of other things. If you have a talent you’d like to share, please give us a call. We’d like to have more expertise in fund raising and event planning – and we always need writers to help with the newsletter and website. What’s your talent? Call us at (914) 606-7876.

Volunteer Opportunity:
2013 Plant Sale
April 22 - April 27

Some of you were kind enough to volunteer last year, and perhaps you would consider doing so again next year.

If the idea of the Plant Sale is new to you, let me tell you that this is the most fun event of the year and the proceeds are what keep The Native Plant Center going!

We are looking for a few different kinds of help:

1. Would you put up some posters advertising the Sale in your town library, supermarket or other noticeable place? If so, please contact Nancy Inzinna at The Native Plant Center and tell her how many and where you will put them. She will send them to you in early April. nancy.inzinna@sunywcc.edu.

2. Can you help receive the plants? On Monday, April 22 or Tuesday, April 23, the trucks bring the plants to the Valhalla Campus at Westchester Community College. We need helpers to off load. This can start at 8 AM and finish by 2 p.m.

3. Can you help set up? On Wednesday, April 24 and Thursday, April 25, we need helpers to set up the sale and pre-sale orders. Not all tasks are physical, as we work in pairs, one reading the order list, one putting plants into little wagons and moving them. Then we check and double check. We usually work those days from 9:30 to 3ish, weather permitting. We leave Friday, April 26, as a back up for final touch ups. Any segments of time any of those days will be appreciated.

4. Can you help at the Plant Sale on Saturday, April 27? We need people to manage the crowds - many of you were cashiers, information desk helpers, pre-sale helpers, and general all around sources of information and assistance, so much can be done without lifting or walking all over the place. We start at 9, open at 10, and clean up what little is left at 2.
